Description
Original 54mm Portafilter Handle for Sage Espresso Machine SP0024799
The Sage 54mm Portafilter Handle, part number SP0024799, is the official replacement part to restore perfect espresso brewing performance. Fits machines with a 54mm group head only – such as the Bambino Plus SES500 and Barista Touch Impress SES881. Manufactured to original factory specifications with a durable plastic handle and stainless steel body for a perfect lock on the 54mm group foot.
The espresso coming out of your Bambino machine doesn't look the same? A broken, scratched handle, or one that doesn't lock straight - it's time to put it aside. The original Sage SP0024799 portafilter handle returns exactly how the device left the factory: tight lock, perfect seal, uniform brew.
Check compatibility before purchasing – this handle is only suitable for 54 mm machines. Not suitable for Oracle, Dual Boiler and Oracle Jet which are 58 mm.
What is the difference between an original Sage portafilter and replacement parts?
The original Sage SP0024799 portafilter comes customized to exact manufacturing specifications for the 54mm Bambino and Barista group. The lock, rotation angle, and sealing bead are all calculated according to the dimensions of the original device. Unapproved replacement parts often require abnormal locking force and may cause sealing problems over time.
From the experience of our technicians: When a complaint comes in about “weak espresso” or “water leaking from the connection,” the first reason we check is the integrity of the portafilter – both the basket and the handle. A genuine part solves the problem in 85% of cases without any additional adjustments.

🔧 How do you replace a portafilter handle on a Sage Bambino?
Replacing a portafilter handle is a simple DIY task that takes less than 2 minutes and requires no tools. All you need to do is remove the old basket from the old handle, assemble it with the new handle, and insert it into the base of the group.
- Make sure the device is turned off and not hot.
- Turn the old handle to the left until it comes free from the group leg.
- Press the basket inside the old handle to remove it.
- Insert the basket into the new handle until it clicks.
- Insert the new handle into the group leg and turn to the right to lock tightly.
💡 Tip from the experts
Before replacing the handle – also check the sealing groove. The sealing groove (Group Gasket) inside the group head is the most common cause of leaks and low pressure, and not the portafilter itself. In our experience, about 40% of the cases where the portafilter appears broken – the real cause is a worn groove. It is recommended to replace both together and save another service visit.
Please note: The SP0024799 handle has a double spout (enough for two cups). If you want a Bottomless/Naked handle to watch the brew – this is a different part.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is SP0024799 compatible with Sage Barista Express?
SP0024799 is officially designated for the Bambino Plus and Barista Touch Impress. Since all Sage 54mm machines share the same group head, the coffee community reports that it also fits the Barista Express, Barista Pro and Bambino – but for official confirmation it is recommended to contact customer service before ordering.
Does the handle come with a filter basket?
No. The SP0024799 handle includes the portafilter body and handle only – no basket. If your basket is in good condition, you can transfer it to the new handle. If the basket also needs to be replaced, it must be ordered separately.
My portafilter handle locks at a crooked angle – is this a problem with the handle?
In most cases – no. A crooked lock is caused by a worn sealing groove at the head of the group and not by the handle itself. Before replacing the handle, it is recommended to check the condition of the groove – it usually needs to be replaced once a year with daily use.
